Close your eyes and imagine you could be anywhere in the world right now. Today, I will take you to the sunny and sandy beaches of Jamaica. Where the weather is always hot, and the people are always “IRE.” We will visit the islands of the small but fun city of Ocho Rios. One of the hottest spots to visit in Jamaica. If you are looking for fun in the sun, nighttime clubbing, or even some time to relax, this small city is it. Just a little under two hours away from the airport of Montego Bay, this place is a must-visit.

Ocho Rios, better known by the locals as “Ochi,” supplies their visitors with rich culture. The beautiful hikes to secluded waterfalls and the fantastic sightseeing tours provided by the native drivers around town. Don’t get me wrong; there are some downsides, but, in the end, it is worth it.

Ochi provides an array of activities and breathtaking views. You can visit places like Dunes River Falls, where you can pay to go on a guided trail up the falls, take pictures, enjoy the calm waters, and meet new people. You can also zipline from tree to tree with the wind in your face and the feeling of nothing but being carefree. If you are the type that wants to live in the clouds, close by is a place you can visit and pick up your favorite strain of herbs. Please don’t take my word for it; check it out. Kaya Herb House, located in Drax Hall, is nestled away on a side street with around-the-clock security. Before entering, you are required to sign in and provide your driver’s license. Once in the building, if they have it and you want it, it’s yours for the priced amount. For those of you that have a little extra time on your hands, they provide a smoke room for your convenience. For my drinkers, don’t think I forgot about you. Kaya Herb House has a bar right outside its door with laid-back and attuned bartenders that will make sure your drink is hitting just right. At the end of the day, before it’s time to tuck away, stop by a popular food spot called Ocho Rios Jerk Centre. Try their famous jerk chicken, rice, and peas festival and wash it down with an ice-cold Red Stripe “Ya Mon.” And if you stay long enough, you may be able to enjoy some great music and maybe get in a good sweat on the dance floor.

Well, our time is up, but no matter what you do to enjoy your stay in this beautiful place, whether it be sun and sand, land and rivers or just taking in the sights, they have a vast number of sites to go to and things to do. So, if you’re ever in the Caribbean and you have a little time, stop by this great city, and say “Wah Gwaan,” or a simple Hello will do.
