Employment Changes

Stay-at-home work has become the model since the began of the pandemic in late March of 2020. Companies have found more production in their employees being at home than being in the office. Companies have also seen a cost reduction is out of the office as well. Not having to pay for office space, utility bills, and other associated costs that go along with having the employees in a building. Some managers that I have personally spoken to have said there is a big chance their company may not renew their lease and stay home from now on. Their employee production has gone up 200%, and the owner has saved thousands of dollars on rent and other financials they would be paying if they were in a building right now.

Other companies have been hiring more like Amazon because of their production. Customers have been at home more and have been shopping more. Sales for the company have been on the roof. The company has been doing tremendously well during the pandemic. Smaller shipping companies have been picking up some extra work during the pandemic and have been getting a piece of the pie too. Companies like Kohl’s and Godiva use smaller shipping companies to distribute their products to their customers, especially during the holidays.

The pandemic has been a hit and miss for employment for people, depending on the industry you are in. for the most part, we are still fighting major high numbers in unemployment and will continue for a long time. We are hopeful for change in the sure!
